About sewing box somerset

What's your superpower? Mine is being able to sew....it's creating clothes, making things fit ... upcycling, patchwork, textile art, or crafting homewares by hand or machine. My soul is, very definitely, fed by needle and thread and it has enriched my life with skills, a creative outlet, and a wonderful community. If you wan to learn how to sew or maybe improve your skills or maybe try different techniques ....take a look at what I have to offer , both online or in person...

My sewing story

My journey with sewing began early, taught by my mother. I started with Barbie clothes and progressed to dressmaking. After running several sewing-based businesses, I discovered the joys of patchwork and quilting after my first daughter was born , having visited the collection at the American Museum in Bath and stood in a weepy ,hormonal mess in front of an album quilt!. For over 17 years, I've been sharing my skills and passion through teaching, both locally in Somerset and online. As a hobby (although to be honest I think it is best described as an obsession!) sewing has changed my life !

The joy of creation

There's nothing quite like witnessing the joy on someone's face when they complete their first bag, quilt, or dress. I love seeing people spread their wings with colour, fabric, and design. Often, it's about providing the confidence and permission to try, to explore, and to create something beautiful with their own hands. Join me and unlock your creative potential!

A patient approach

As a self-taught sewer, I understand the challenges and am adept at finding alternative ways to explain techniques. My teaching style is patient, hands-on, and filled with humour. I firmly believe that this hobby should be fun and accessible to all. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where you can learn and grow at your own pace.
